About Monterey Bay Whale Watch
Year-round whale watching from Monterey’s Fisherman’s Wharf, run by marine biologists since 1992. Tours focus on education, research and conservation, and families regularly spot humpbacks, dolphins, sea lions and sometimes orcas. Named one of the top five whale watching companies in the U.S.
Family-friendly trips: the Daily Whale Watch Tour (9 AM, 3.5–4 hrs; 1:30 PM, 3 hrs) and the seasonal Sunset Tour (3 hrs) are open to all ages. All-day, killer whale and seabird trips are for ages 13+. Private charters are also available.
Parent tips: about 2 hours from the Bay Area. Bring warm layers, prepare for seasickness, and note that snacks and coffee are sold on board.
Opening hours
Daily departures 9 AM & 1:30 PM; extra and sunset trips on some days. Closed afternoons on Thanksgiving & Christmas.
